HONDA UNVEILS NEW GENERATION

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Honda, Australia’s leading four-stroke power equipment manufacturer, has expanded its commercial generator range with the introduction of its exciting new EG series.

Honda Power Equipment National Sales Manager, Ray Briffa, said the new range delivered the same high levels of quality and performance customers had come to expect from the premium brand.

“In a marketplace where cheap, imported generators are being sold by less reputable manufacturers, Honda Power Equipment’s superior product stands head and shoulders above the competition,” Mr Briffa said.

“It’s simply not worth the risk of purchasing a low quality alternative which may damage appliances and end up costing you thousands.”

Four new EG series generator models are on offer, employing leading edge technology to provide users outstanding reliability, coupled with low fuel consumption and superior environmental performance.

Combining high power output with compact design, the newly-developed Honda EG series generator range features D-AVR (Digital Auto Voltage Regulator) technology, delivering voltage stability not possible in traditional auto voltage-regulated generators.

Using a microcomputer, the Honda D-AVR precisely controls and monitors voltage output resulting in high quality, stable electricity similar to Honda’s sine wave inverter-equipped generators.

Introduced as a replacement for the discontinued EP range (except EP2200CX, which remains available), the new EG series begins with the entry level EG3600CX. Powered by Honda’s four-stroke GX270 engine, this generator produces a maximum AC output of 3.6kVA, and provides operators 11.9 hours of continuous operation at rated load.

For those requiring greater output, the EG4500CX generator is a perfect power source for commercial users on construction sites, where energy-hungry tools need powering. Driven by the Honda GX340 four-stroke engine, the EG4500CX provides over 9 hours of continuous operation at rated load, while producing a maximum AC output of 4.5kVA.

Topping off the EG generator series are the flagship EG5500CX and EG5500CXS models, which are suited for use in a wide range of industrial, agricultural and emergency services applications; these models are also ideal as a back-up power source.

Powered by Honda’s renowned air-cooled GX 390 four-stroke engine, the EG5500CX and EG5500CXS generators deliver a maximum AC output of 5.5kVA and over 8 hours of continuous operation at rated load on a full fuel tank. The only difference between these two models is that convenience in the EG5500CXS is further increased with the inclusion of electric start capability.*

Mr Briffa said there were a variety of new design features and product enhancements introduced that cements Honda’s position as a world leader in portable generators.

“To enhance safety and durability, all EG series generators have been redesigned to incorporate a fully welded steel frame for protection and easy transportation,” Mr Briffa said.

“For easy operation and visibility, the EG series also feature a centralised layout control panel incorporating fuel gauge, oil alert system, and circuit breaker switch. Other features include AC and DC circuit protector and auto choke.

“Performance and convenience is also aided with the adoption of a large 24 litre fuel tank across the range; this provides the EG series with the longest continuous operational time in its class.”**

According to Mr Briffa, the EG series generator range’s four-stroke engines not only save users money on fuel, they also give operators an advantage in a time of heightened environmental awareness.

“Along with strong fuel efficiency, quiet operation and low vibration without compromising on power, Honda EG series generator’s four-stroke engines also eliminate the need to mix oil into the fuel for lubrication purposes, adding to fuel cost savings,” Mr Briffa said.

“And when compared to two-stroke engines, Honda’s four-stroke technology produces significantly lower exhaust and noise emissions.

“With less noise and pollution, the Honda EG series generator range is ideal for a great many applications such as on the construction site, the farm, for outdoor events, for emergency service use and even as a source of back-up power in the home or workplace.”
